About Nicole Butts

Nicole Butts is a successful Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) executive, as well as a strategist, coach, and facilitator. It is no surprise that she is also a highly sought-after public speaker. Nicole has worked on both the East and West Coasts. She has held positions including Chief Diversity Officer, Director of Employee Diversity, Manager of Affirmative Action, and Executive Consultant, among other impressive titles.

Throughout her 20-year career, Nicole has also helped establish three new DEI offices within existing organizations and taught, educated, and counseled senior leadership on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has established and directed an international medical exchange program and devised and implemented comprehensive diversity and inclusion initiatives for various sectors and customers throughout the United States.

Nicole also holds degrees from Howard University and Bowie State University, making her a two-time graduate of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Additionally, she holds several professional certifications, including Senior Certified Human Resources Professional (SHRM-SCP), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Strategic Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP), and Senior Certified Affirmative Action Professional (SCAAP), among others.

Nicole is passionate about her commitment to making the world a better place. This includes choosing philanthropy as a large part of her life. She truly believes in helping others for no reason other than it’s the authentic, right thing to do. She is involved in a variety of community groups as a volunteer. In Durbin, South Africa, she volunteered to work as a group process facilitator during the U.N. World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia, and Other Forms of Intolerance. She relishes this memory and often reflects on the attendees with whom she discussed complicated themes and formed cross-cultural relationships.

Nicole’s role as a facilitator of learning and challenging cultural conversations is to provide welcome and secure environments for individuals to engage, explore, and develop in their lives. Nicole understands that everyone is at a different stage in their personal and professional DEI journeys, and she meets people where they are. Anyone who has had the good fortune to work with her knows she makes even the most challenging tasks seem effortless. Nicole Butts is honest, non-judgmental, thoughtful, empathetic, patient, and highly skilled in her interactions with others.
